Author

Alice Baggett has been a teacher for over two decades.  She has a BA in Archaeology from Oberlin College, and an MA in Education from Florida International University.  After starting as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans, she never looked back.  For ten plus years she has worked as a Technology Specialist with K-3 students. The rapid changes in educational technology coupled with Alice’s desire to help her young students create, and not just consume, with technology, led her to incorporate as many building challenges as possible into her curriculum.  Before she knew it, she had a closet full of motors, LEDs, pom pom balls, and googly eyes, and her students were consistently wowing her with their wacky inventions.  Alice knew she was onto something powerful when one day she explained to a group of her second graders that as they went through the process of inventing they should expect both epic fails and spectacular discoveries.  “But Ms. Baggett,” one of her students interrupted, “how do you tell the difference between an epic fail and a spectacular discovery?”  Indeed!
